This initiative of WWF is the largest campaign in defense of the environment in history, involving 1,000 million people. La Hora del Planeta 2009 involving government, citizens and businesses in a joint action to draw attention to the effects of global warming and demand that political leaders act to control CO2 emissions before it is too late. So far, more than 3000 cities in 84 countries have pledged to turn off the lights in their most emblematic buildings, as a symbolic gesture of support when the planet.
